BLUES Robert Bortuzzo, Zach Sanford, Ryan O'Reilly and Ivan Barbashev scored, David Perron had two assists and Jake Allen made 22 saves to send the Blues to a convincing 4-1 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who currently stand was the top team in the Eastern Conference.
The Maple Leafs' offense, which has more goals than any other team in the NHL (34), was limited to 23 shots on goal - their lowest total of the season and their lowest since Feb. 12, 2018.
"That looked a lot more like the St. Louis Blues tonight," Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo said after the victory. "I thought the guys came out and gave us a great response as far as how the last game went down and the way we talked about how we had to play the game. We did it to a T."
JETS The defense led the way for the Winnipeg Jets in a 5-3 win against the Arizona Coyotes in their last game. Josh Morrissey and Tyler Myers contributed a goal and an assist each, and Jacob Trouba had three assists in Saturday's win.
Backup goalie Laurent Brossoit made 42 saves for the Jets.
"We're grinding away," forward Blake Wheeler told NHL.com after the game. "We're still kind of searching for that identity, that A-game. I think we're getting better every game. We started to get a bit more physical and I think that helped us."
Winnipeg improved to 4-0-1 at home this season and are 5-2-1 overall.
Kyle Connor and Morissey lead the Jets with seven points through eight games this season. Wheeler, who has two goals and four assists (six points) ranks third on the club in points.
