20230613 - United by hockey

UPDATE JUNE 16, 9:00 a.m.: Due to weather conditions, the outdoor Canadiens Minor Hockey Development activities originally planned to be held on the surface of the Côte-des-Neiges--Notre-Dame-de-Grâce BLEU BLANC BOUGE rink will now be moved indoors at the Aréna Doug-Harvey.

MONTREAL -- On June 16, hockey's trailblazers will be celebrated in the sport's birthplace when the United by Hockey Mobile Museum rolls into Montreal.

A part of the NHL's Hockey is for Everyone initiative, the 840 square feet of history will open shop in the parking lot of the Aréna Doug-Harvey near the Côte-des-Neiges--Notre-Dame-de-Grâce BLEU BLANC BOUGE rink.

On tour across all 32 NHL cities since February, the mobile museum tells the stories of those who have influenced the game from multiple underrepresented and multicultural demographics.

Fans young and old will see educational videos, exclusive artifacts from players of all backgrounds, and get a look at the next generation of players, officials, broadcasters, and women in hockey.

Speaking of broadcasters, the roaming exhibit likewise features an interactive play-by-play booth for visitors to test their on-air chops with.

The museum was created by the National Hockey League, the Hockey Hall of Fame and ALXMOBILE to travel across the United States and Canada. Although the content is mostly in English, guides will be on site to provide translations.

Adding a little local flavor to the visit will be skills and drills and ball hockey minigames organized by the Canadiens' Minor Hockey Development team on the Côte-des-Neiges--Notre-Dame-de-Grâce BLEU BLANC BOUGE rink. Youppi! will also be present, along with face-painting booths for young fans. Door prizes will be drawn among those on-site, including a signed Arber Xhekaj jersey. Vouchers offering 20% off in-store and online at Tricolore Sports will be distributed to all visitors (or an accompanying parent for kids under 13).

The museum will be reserved for school visits from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., before opening to the public from 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The event is free and non-ticketed to all and will be held rain or shine, but note that the exhibit can accept a maximum of 150 visitors per hour.

See you there!
