With 26 games remaining on the AHL schedule, the first-place Wranglers are gearing up for the stretch drive.
Calgary went into the midway mark of the season with the most wins in the AHL and post all-star break, they have continued right where they left off with back-to-back W's over the San Jose Barracuda to begin the second half.

All season long the Wranglers have stressed attention to details and focusing on the fine points of the game. With the team currently sitting first in the standings with a record 33-11-2 and 68 points, it's clear the approach is working.
The Wranglers have scored more goals than anyone else (173), while also continuing to set a defensive standard on the PK this season, sitting first in the league at 85.9%.

RECALLING A FEW FIRSTS:

Jakob Pelletier has settled in nicely alongside Flames' superstars Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau, averaging two shots per game since being recalled from the Wranglers. He scored his first career NHL goal in his seventh game against the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 11, 2023.
In the same game, recently recalled defenceman, Dennis Gilbert, blasted home his first goal as a member of the Flames. Gilbert has appeared in 11 games with the big club this season, registering a goal, three points and four fights. When asked about the game, 'Gibby' gave credit to Pelletier for scoring his first NHL goal, while also providing a lift for the Flames bench in the process.
"His personality is awesome and he's got a great energy to him," explained Gilbert. "So, whenever something like that happens, obviously, it lifts the whole bench and everybody's excited for him."
On a different note, the Wranglers recalled goaltender Daniil Chechelev from Rapid City (ECHL) who saw action two games later, picking up his first AHL win with a 29-save performance against the Barracuda.

ALL-STAR REVIEW:

It was a fun weekend in Laval for the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic last weekend. The Wranglers were well-represented with coach Mitch Love, Matthew Phillips and Dustin Wolf in attendance.
Love was there as the head coach of the Pacific Division squad that ended up winning the whole thing. That was the plan all along, according to the Wranglers bench boss.
"We talked as a team here in the Pacific, that if we were going to come out (to Laval) and spend a few days we wanted to try and win," Love explained. "The guys buckled down and did a good job of that."
Wolf made an impression over the weekend, picking up All-Star MVP honours (shared with Gulls', Lukas Dostal) helping backstop Team Pacific to a win in the 3-on-3 tournament.
"It was an absolutely tremendous experience to be out here, with Philly and everybody else," expressed Wolf. "There's a lot of skilled guys in our division and I think everybody showed that tonight. It was just a blast."

ONE-TIMERS:

QUOTABLES:

Mitch Love on getting back to work with the Wranglers in the second half of the season:
"We've got the final push here. Lots of quality hockey left for our team, and our division is tight. So, we've got some work to do, but we're looking forward to it."
Matthew Phillips on getting rested and refreshed as a group over the break:
"It was an earned break. It's been a bit of a grind this season to this point, so everyone's going to be refreshed and ready to get back at it."
