Jon Ledecky at Ice Hockey in Harlem Benefit

The New York Islanders and Co-Owner Jon Ledecky received a Community Impact Award from Ice Hockey in Harlem on Tuesday night during a benefit for the youth hockey organization.

Ledecky and the Islanders were presented with the award after donating $50,000, in honor the Islanders' 50th anniversary season, to Ice Hockey in Harlem as part of the team's commitment to growing the game in Metro New York.

The Islanders' $50,000 donation helped cover costs for participants, including equipment, ice time, and travel to rinks. The donation also funded new Islanders-themed jerseys for Ice Hockey in Harlem players. The organization also donated signed Islanders merchandise, as well as owner's suite tickets, for auction to raise further funds for Ice Hockey in Harlem.

In addition to the monetary donation, which followed up a $27,000 donation in honor of John Tonelli in 2022, the Islanders continued to strengthen the team's relationship with Ice Hockey in Harlem this past season. The Islanders hosted Ice Hockey in Harlem during a game on Jan. 14 and players had the chance to meet legend Bryan Trottier and skate on the ice at UBS Arena following the game. The Isles also hosted Ice Hockey in Harlem players during the team's 5k in March.

Ledecky and Tonelli were part of a group representing the Islanders at Tuesday's golf and tennis benefit, which also featured former New York Rangers goalie Mike Richter, former New Jersey Devil Grant Marshall, NHL on TNT analyst and 10-year NHL vet Anson Carter and NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly.

Ice Hockey in Harlem currently welcomes more than 175 participants, ages 4-18, with a majority of students representing minorities. In addition to on-ice instruction, Ice Hockey in Harlem participants attend enrichment and educational experiences that include speaker series and college exploration series.
