NYI Kyle Palmieri in training camp

Kyle Palmieri practiced with the team on Wednesday morning at Northwell Health Ice Center after missing the first four preseason games. He has been skating on his own and skated with the non-game group on Monday.

"Skating on your own, you can only do so much," Palmieri said on Wednesday. "It's a controlled atmosphere and when you kind of get out there and with the group and get into some battle drills and stuff. It takes a little time to get back in the swing of things. I'll just take it day by day and just try to keep building."

Head Coach Lane Lambert said Palmieri made progress while skating on his own, pointing out it won't take long for him to catch up to speed.

"He has been doing some really productive stuff, so I don't think it's that long of a window." Lambert said.

The 32-year-old winger had 33 points (16G, 17A) in 55 games played last season in his third year with the Islanders.
