For the last two days, Laine, Little, and head coach Maurice had talked about the importance of that line (including Ehlers) providing more puck support for each other, as well as more sustained offensive zone time.
The head coach said that goal was exactly what doing those things can provide.
"Before the puck comes out of the zone, Patty does a real nice job hanging on the puck. We haven't had enough of that line just containing it," said Maurice.
"Nik comes over, we make a play, but now they're moving right because of their original position.
"Ehlers middle lane drives that. He doesn't open up into Bryan's space, so he creates that by a real simple, basic, drive to the net hard, not more fancy. Then that lane is open."
Connor would add an empty-netter with less than a second left in regulation to seal the win, which moved the Jets to 3-2-0, and opened a season-long six-game home stand on a winning note.
