In honor of Christiana "Chrissy" Duarte, an LA Kings Fan Service Associate who was just 22 years old when she was killed along with 57 others at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, the LA Kings and the Duarte Family award an annual scholarship of $2,500 to a Torrance Unified School District, South High School graduating senior.

This year, the Chrissy Duarte Scholarship has been awarded to Lauren Chong, who will be attending the University of California, Berkeley majoring in English and minoring in Education. Lauren has a great love for the English language and is passionate about introducing that love to future generations through the education system.

Lauren has been an academic tutor for three years, a job she started after seeing students fall behind during the pandemic. She is also president of the Best Buddies Club at South High, as well as a member and Publicity Manager of the National Honor Society.
