Stars hand Coyotes sixth straight loss

DALLAS -- Radek Faksa and Dan Hamhuis each had a goal and an assist, and Ben Bishop made 27 saves to help the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes at American Airlines Center on Tuesday.
Hamhuis scored what proved to be the game-winning goal midway through the second period for Dallas, which won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

The Stars killed off back-to-back power plays and Bishop made 15 saves in the third period.
"Penalty kill was huge, two big kills there in the third period," Bishop said. "That's what you need. You've got to find different ways to win, and tonight the penalty kill came up big and I'll take it."
Adin Hill made 31 saves in his NHL debut for the Coyotes (0-5-1), who are still looking for their first win.
"We had a couple of glorious chances, couple of guys had an empty net to tie it up," Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. "We've just got to keep punching away."

Faksa gave Dallas a 1-0 lead at 5:17 of the first period. Mattias Janmark's wraparound was stopped by Hill's left pad before Faksa beat Coyotes forward Christian Dvorak to a loose puck.
"I just passed to [Janmark] in the middle and he made a nice play," Faksa said. "Just strong by the net and got the rebound, and happy it was in."
Hamhuis made it 2-0 on a wrist shot at 10:48 of the second period. Tyler Pitlick and Faksa won a battle in the corner for the puck before Hamhuis scored his first of the season from the left circle.
Jason Demers made it 2-1 on a wrist shot at 14:40 of the second period. Max Domi and Anthony Duclair had assists.
Alexander Radulov scored his first goal of the season into an empty net at 19:08 of the third period.

Demers scored against his former team when he picked a corner over Bishop's catching glove with a wrist shot.

Hill passed an early test in his NHL debut when he made a left pad on Radulov after a pass from Tyler Seguin at 16:46 of the first period.

Highlight of the game

The game-winning goal was generated with hard work by the Stars' fourth line in the corner, and Hamhuis took advantage of the open space.

Now, was it them or was it us? That's something we'll able to tell in the morning when we look at the tape, because they caused us a lot of problems. Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson played his 500th NHL game. … Forward Zac Rinaldo made his Coyotes debut after serving a five-game suspension from March 2016 when he was playing with the Boston Bruins. … The Stars have won three straight home games.
