STL@CHI: Keith honored by Hawks for 1,000th game

Duncan Keith has given much of his life to the Chicago Blackhawks, and his teammates found a way to show their appreciation for him Saturday.

Each of Keith's Chicago Blackhawks teammates sported his jersey during warmups before the defenseman played in his 1,000th NHL game against the St. Louis Blues.

The warmup jerseys were just part of the celebration for Keith's milestone accomplishment. Chicago held a pregame ceremony for Keith, where his family members were on hand to soak in the experience, and emcee Ed Olczyk announced the Blackhawks would be sending Keith and his son Colton to England, where Keith's mother Jean is from.
But the trip wasn't the only gift from the Blackhawks. Teammate and former defense partner Brent Seabrook, who reached the 1,000-game milestone last season and became the franchise's leader in games played Saturday, and former Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp delivered Keith a silver stick, the customary gift for players who reach the 1,000-game mark. Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews and forward Patrick Kane also helped unveil a custom picture of Keith's accomplishments with Chicago.

Keith, who was drafted by the Blackhawks in the second round (No. 54) of the 2002 NHL Draft, has played every game in a Chicago uniform and helped the Blackhawks win three Stanley Cup championships. He won the Norris Trophy in 2010 and Conn Smythe Trophy in 2015.
