Buffalo Sabres season snapshot fantasy honors

With the NHL pausing the 2019-20 regular season on March 12 due to the concerns surrounding the coronavirus, NHL.com is taking stock of each of the League's 31 teams.
Today, a fantasy recap of the Buffalo Sabres at the pause:

Fantasy MVP: Jack Eichel, C (rank: 15) -- He is one of the most valuable players to his NHL team and ranks among the top 15 in goals (36; eighth), points (78; T-10th), power-play points (27; T-8th) and shots on goal (227; 13th). Eichel is the Buffalo Sabres leading scorer by a wide margin; next is right wing linemate Sam Reinhart (50 points). Eichel and defenseman Rasmus Dahlin form one of the best forward-defenseman duos for keeper leagues.

Biggest surprise: Victor Olofsson, LW/RW -- He has been limited to 54 of Buffalo's 69 games by injury this season but leads NHL rookie forwards in points per game (0.78). Olofsson, who plays frequently with Eichel at even strength and on the first power play, is tied for second among rookies in goals (20) and third in power-play points (17). Olofsson, who was attainable late in most fantasy drafts (average draft position in the mid 150s) or on the waiver wire, is among the NHL leaders in power-play goals (11; T-11th).

Unsung hero: Linus Ullmark, G -- Among the 45 goalies who have played at least 30 games this season, Ullmark is tied for 16th in save percentage (.915) and has one of the best rates at even strength (.926; T-6th). The potential 2020 restricted free agent has kept the Sabres competitive when healthy and reminded fantasy owners of his hidden value in his return from injury against the Washington Capitals on March 9; he saved 33 of 35 shots in a 3-2 shootout win.
