Orlov Cup

Dmitry Orlov's day with the Stanley Cup started with a public event where locals could take their picture with the Washington Capitals defenseman and the trophy. Then, with nightfall, out came the flamethrowers.

Orlov took the Cup to Novokuznetsk, in the southwest region of Siberia, on Friday for a meet and greet with fans by the Ferris wheel at Gagarin City Park.

A large crowd gathered for pictures and autographs for the Cup's first trip to the city, which has a population of 547,000.

When the lights went down, however, that's when the real fireworks started. Orlov changed venues to attend a private party and made an entrance befitting a Stanley Cup champion.

Orlov took a triumphant stroll, holding the Cup overhead down a red carpet lined with fire machines. A couple of people with flamethrowers put the whole scene over the top.
Inside, singer Elena Temnikova performed for Orlov's party.
Capitals players and staff have been getting pretty creative with their turns with the Cup. As far as entrances go, a flamethrower-lined red carpet is going to be hard to top.
