Stamkos scored three goals and surpassed the 700-point milestone, helping the NHL-leading Lightning win their seventh straight game,
6-3 against the New York Rangers
at Amalie Arena.
Tampa Bay (24-7-1) scored at least five goals in a game for the 13th time this season, most in the NHL. The Lightning lead the NHL with 128 goals, and their seven-game winning streak is the longest active run in the League.
Stamkos' hat trick was his ninth in the NHL and the first since Oct. 13, 2014, when he scored three goals against the Montreal Canadiens. He passed longtime linemate Martin St. Louis for the most regular-season hat tricks in Lightning history. It was the 37th hat trick in 464 games played this season, the second-highest total at this stage of a season in the past 20 years; in 2010-11, there were 38 hat tricks after 464 games.
