Best moment: Hedman, who had eight points (four goals, four assists) against the New York Islanders in the second round, assisted on Alex Killorn's goal at 18:46 of the first period and has at least one point in five of the past six games. After hitting the goal post in the first minute, Hedman made a gorgeous stretch pass from his own goal line to Killorn at the Penguins blue line, where he got around Pittsburgh defenseman Olli Maata and beat goalie Matt Murray with a backhand shot.
Series stat line (goals-assists-points): Crosby 0-1-1; Hedman 0-1-1
What Hedman said: "We've faced a lot of adversity, and I think we're obviously a little bit used to it. For us, we've been through situations like this before. We knew it was a very important game for us. We made sure that we got ready for this one. When [Ben Bishop] went down, we wanted to play a good game for him. Obviously we started off on the right foot and played a great game. We played good defensively there in the third and we didn't give them too much."
What Crosby said: "I don't know if we weren't sharp, we just didn't execute the chances we got. We didn't give up a ton, but the ones we gave up were pretty good scoring opportunities and they capitalized. Unfortunately, we didn't capitalize on ours."
