Tavares-Curry 9-6

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. - John Tavares had a chance meeting on the golf course that left him dazzled.

Shortly before teeing off at Sebonack Golf Club on Wednesday, Tavares bumped into NBA superstar Steph Curry. The two shook hands and had a brief conversation before going their separate ways to play a round of 18 holes on the private golf course in The Hamptons.

Tavares, who was attending the first New York Islanders Captains' Getaway, admitted he was in awe meeting Curry, a two-time NBA MVP.
"That was pretty cool," Tavares told NHL.com. "Obviously, he's having some fun playing golf out east before his training camp. It's pretty amazing. He's obviously a special athlete and a lot of fun to watch, especially what he's done the last number of years.
"He's definitely a great person as well. He was talking about his family a lot. Pretty cool. I'm a little starstruck for sure."
