Facts and Figures: Lightning extend winning streak to six games

The Tampa Bay Lightning are on a scoring surge that's stretched their winning streak to six games and created distance atop the NHL standings.

Steven Stamkos had four points (two goals, two assists) to power Tampa Bay to the longest active winning streak in the NHL with
a 7-1 victory
against the Colorado Avalanche at Amalie Arena on Saturday. The Lightning (23-7-1) lead the NHL with 47 points, six ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs. They scored seven goals in a game for an NHL best fourth time and have an NHL high 124 this season, including two shootout-deciding goals.

Red hot

Right behind the Lightning and Maple Leafs are the Calgary Flames, who won their fifth straight game by
defeating the Nashville Predators 5-2
at Bridgestone Arena. Calgary (19-9-2, 40 points) moved past the Avalanche (17-8-5, 39 points) and Predators (19-10-1, 39 points) into first place in the Western Conference.

Big Mac attack

Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon (20 goals, 25 assists) became the sixth player to reach 20 goals this season (Alex Ovechkin, Patrik Laine, Brayden Point, Jeff Skinner, David Pastrnak). This is the first NHL season to feature at least six 20-goal scorers through the first 453 games since 1996-97. Seven players accomplished the feat that season: Jaromir Jagr, Mats Sundin, Mario Lemieux, Tony Amonte, Geoff Sanderson, John LeClair and Ziggy Palffy.

Eleven alive

Ovechkin scored his NHL leading 22nd goal and had an assist for the Washington Capitals to extend his point streak to 11 games in
a 4-0 win
against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Ovechkin is two games shy from equaling the longest point streak of his NHL career (20 points; eight goals, 12 assists in 13 games from Jan. 1-Feb. 1, 2007).

Rally caps

The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders each continued a theme in the NHL this season that's proven no lead is safe.
The Flyers scored six unanswered goals to rally from down 2-0 in
a 6-2 win
against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center. Claude Giroux had four points (one goal, three assists) in a regular-season game for the 10th time in his NHL career and trails nine players for the most such games in Flyers history.
The Islanders also came back from trailing 2-0 to
defeat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2
at Little Caesars Arena when Matt Martin scored at 3:24 of the third period for his first game-winning goal since March 23, 2016.
Including these two games, teams have come back to win 199 times, the most through the first 453 games of an NHL season. The 63 multi-goal comeback wins in 2018-19 are also the most after 453 games, one more than 1985-86 (62).
