Matt-Murray-May-Play

CRANBERRY, Pa. --Goalie Matt Murray could return for the Pittsburgh Penguins when they play at the New York Islanders on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; TVAS, SN, MSG+, ATTSN-PT).
Murray took part in a second consecutive practice Monday after missing the previous nine games with a concussion. He was injured when he took a shot off the mask from defenseman Olli Maatta during practice Feb. 26. Murray was in his own crease throughout practice, with rookie goalies Tristan Jarry and Casey DeSmith alternating at the other end.

"He will be an option in goal tomorrow night," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said of Murray. "We'll see how he responds and we'll make decisions accordingly."
Jarry was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League after practice.
Murray, 23, is 23-13-2 with a 2.82 goals-against average and .909 save percentage in 41 games (37 starts) in his third NHL season after winning the Stanley Cup each of his first two. He won nine of 11 games (9-1-1) before the injury.
The Penguins (41-26-5) are 5-3-1 in Murray's absence. They are second in the Metropolitan Division, two points behind the Washington Capitals and two ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Defenseman Justin Schultz stressed the importance of Murray's potential return.
"It's huge," Schultz said. "This time of the year, it's coming down to the stretch run to the playoffs. So, anytime you can get our injured guys back, it's huge, especially [Murray]. He's been so big for us over the last couple of years. Just having him in the lineup and in the room, it's huge."
