NEW YORK -- Rookie Mathew Barzal had his second five-point game of the season and his line combined for 12 points in the New York Islanders' 7-2 win against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
Barzal, who also had five points against the Colorado Avalanche on Nov. 5, had two goals and three assists. Jordan Eberle had four assists and Anthony Beauvillier scored two goals and had an assist.

Shane Prince, Thomas Hickey and Cal Clutterbuck also scored, and Jaroslav Halak made 37 saves to help the Islanders (22-18-4) win their second straight after a five-game losing streak.
"Just a great team effort," Barzal said. "[Beauvillier] comes in, works hard, wins all his battles. [Eberle] is making skill plays. And [I'm] a little waterbug out there. Just one of those [days] where everything kind of finds its way into the back of the net."
The Islanders improved to 48 points, one behind the Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins, who occupy the two wild cards into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. The Rangers and Penguins play in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
"It was a great 20-man win, a great road win," Islanders coach Doug Weight said. "How many breakouts we had from underneath the puck, guys sprinting back, we worked at it. It's hard work. You can talk about all the structure and identity, this and that, but for you to accomplish it you have to work and work and we did as a unit."
The Rangers (22-16-5), who got goals from Kevin Hayes and Mika Zibanejad, have lost two in a row and three of four. They are 3-4-2 since Dec. 21.

Ondrej Pavelec allowed five goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Henrik Lundqvist (16 saves) at 6:51 of the second period, after Beauvillier scored his second to give the Islanders a 5-1 lead.
"To make the type of mistakes that we made today, you don't give yourself a chance," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "Goals one, three and four, we had numbers there and we just didn't check. Goal two, we take a shot from the point that doesn't get through and our defensemen [Brady Skjei] jumps in and gives them a 3-on-0.
"Barzal's line just dominated Mika's line the whole game. I had three of my top players there [Zibanejad, J.T. Miller and Mats Zuccarello] and they were dominated the whole game."
Barzal scored two goals, his 14th and 15th, in the first 4:11 of the second period, to give the Islanders a 4-1 lead.

He beat Pavelec at 37 seconds when he took the puck into the zone, cut down the middle and across the slot, and roofed a backhanded shot from the left circle into the far corner to make it 3-1.
"Just tried going across the net, but you can't really just pick those spots," Barzal said. "It was just kind of lucky, found its way in."
Barzal scored again off his own rebound on for a 4-1 lead.
"He just makes great plays every time," Beauvillier said.
Beauvillier, who gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 6:06 of the first period and chased Pavelec when his second goal made it 5-1, has four points (three goals, one assist) in two games since playing two games in Bridgeport of the American Hockey League in an effort to re-establish his game.
He also played one game with Bridgeport this week, when the Islanders (and Rangers) had their five-day break. He's with the Islanders on an emergency recall because of lower-body injuries to forwards Andrew Ladd and Josh Bailey.
"I just feel more comfortable," Beauvillier said. "I want the puck more. I know I can make plays and have success. It's all in my head, I guess."
Hayes scored a game-tying power-play goal at 14:25 of the first, but Prince scored his first of the season two minutes later. Zibanejad cut the deficit to 5-2 at 9:05 of the third, but Hickey and Clutterbuck scored in the final 3:54.
