Hornqvist-Pens

CRANBERRY, Pa. -- Patric Hornqvist will not play for the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Philadelphia Flyers at PPG Paints Arena on Friday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVAS, ATTSN-PT, NBCSP) and is day to day with an upper-body injury.
The Penguins lead the best-of-7 series 3-1.

After missing a 5-0 Game 4 win at Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday, Hornqvist did not practice Thursday, but coach Mike Sullivan said the 31-year-old forward skated on his own before practice.
Hornqvist has three points (one goal, two assists) in three playoff games, after having 49 points (29 goals, 20 assists) in 70 regular-season games.

"[Hornqvist] isn't an easy guy to replace," Sullivan said. "He brings a unique dimension to our team, but we also believe that we have some depth. Even though the players are a little bit different, we still think we have capable guys that can fill in and make sure that we continue to have success."
Forward Dominik Simon, 23, made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in place of Hornqvist on Wednesday and is expected to remain at first-line right wing next to center Sidney Crosby and left wing Jake Guentzel in Game 5. Simon, who had 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 33 games during the regular season, had the secondary assist on Crosby's goal at 10:56 of the second period in Game 4.
Guentzel moved from the second power-play unit to the first, where Hornqvist normally is the net-front presence. The Penguins, who had the No. 1 power play in the NHL during the regular season at 26.2 percent, went 1-for-4 without Hornqvist on Wednesday.
"I thought they did a great job," Sullivan said. "Jake brings a different dimension than [Hornqvist] does on that power play. Jake a has a real-good hockey sense. For a guy that's maybe undersized, he's brave. He's willing to go to the battle areas. He's willing to go to the net. He's willing to take a cross-check in tight to try to create a scoring chance."
