Derek Ryan and Scott Darling are bringing home bronze medals from the 2018 IIHF World Championship after the tournament concluded on Sunday.

Team USA Tops Canada in Bronze Medal Game
After topping the Czechs in the quarterfinals, Team USA drew a match-up against Sweden, the defending gold medalists, in Saturday's semifinals. Sweden was dominant in a 6-0 win, sending the Americans to the bronze medal game to face off with Team Canada, who was upset by Switzerland in the semifinals.
Team USA and Team Canada played a scoreless first period in the bronze medal match before each team got on the board in the second to take a 1-1 score into the final frame. Then, with just about six minutes left to play, Nick Bonino tallied a power play goal to put the Americans ahead, 2-1. Team USA added a pair of empty-net goals to seal the victory and earn the country's third bronze medal and first since 2015 in the World Championship.

In the semifinal, Ryan ranked tied for first on the team with six shots on goal in 13:32 of ice time. He logged 8:40 of ice time in the bronze medal game and finished the tournament with seven points (4g, 3a) and a plus-3 rating in 10 games. Darling served as the back-up to Keith Kinkaid in both games over the weekend. He finished with a 1-0 record, a 2.25 goals-against average and an .870 save percentage in his first international appearance with the United States national team.

Aho Named Tournament's Best Forward
Though Sebastian Aho and Team Finland didn't bring home a medal in this year's tournament, Aho did earn accolades for his dominant performance. Aho was selected as the 2018 IIHF World Championship's best forward and was also named to the All-Star team after recording a Finnish record 18 points (9g, 9a) and a plus-15 rating in eight games.
