Newark, NJ - New Jersey Devils & Prudential Center President Hugh Weber released the following statement in regard to former New Jersey Governor Brendan Byrne, who passed away at age 93.
"We were saddened earlier today to learn of the passing of former New Jersey Governor Brendan Byrne. Governor Byrne was instrumental in helping bring the Devils franchise to New Jersey. Due in part to his efforts, the team has been proud to call the state home for 35 years and was able to hoist the franchise's first Stanley Cup in an arena bearing his name. On behalf of the Devils organization, our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Byrne family."
