Timo Meier will have shoulder surgery Tuesday, but the New Jersey Devils forward is expected to be ready for training camp in September.

Meier led the Devils with 28 goals this season and was fourth with 52 points in 69 games. He missed 13 games because of injury (lower-body, mid-body). He also led the NHL with 13 goals in March and finished with 17 goals and 26 points in his final 23 games after having 11 goals and 26 points in his first 46 of the season.

Meier has 66 points (37 goals, 29 assists) in 90 regular-season games and four points (two goals, two assists) in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games since he was acquired in a trade with the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 26, 2023. He could have become a restricted free agent following last season, but signed an eight-year, $70.4 million contract ($8.8 million average annual value) to remain with the Devils on June 28.

The Devils (38-39-5) finished seventh in the Metropolitan Division this season and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
