LIVE COVERAGE: Oilers at Blue Jackets

Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick will make their Oilers debuts on Thursday night when Edmonton tries to win their sixth straight game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: Game over. Columbus ends Edmonton's five-game win streak with a 3-2 victory behind a solid effort from netminder Daniil Tarasov, who makes 32 saves in a first-star performance. The Oilers will now play back-to-back afternoon games on Saturday and Sunday after the Trade Deadline passes at 1:00 p.m. MT on Friday.

19.2: Roslovic into an empty-netter. The Blue Jackets survive despite Tarasov making a massive pad save on Hyman at the left post.

1:14: The extra attacker is out for Edmonton!

7:52: PERRY CUTS THE LEAD! The 38-year-old provides the screen in front and delivers the deflection on Evander Kane's shot from the left face-off dot to make it 3-2. The extended power play was nearing its end, but the OIlers get a crucial return on the man advantage to give themselves a chance to come back in this one.

8:05: Tarasov makes the glove save on McDavid during the power play that's down to 30 seconds. The Columbus netminder remains steadfast in denying the Oilers tonight.

9:34: A slash into the hands of Draisaitl by Columbus captain Boone Jenner sets up a lengthy two-man advantage for the Oilers for 50 seconds.

10:44: A hard collision in the corner after Justin Danforth pushed the skate out from under Corey Perry, leading to Erik Gudbranson coming through with a hard hit that Danforth gets the worst of. Danforth gets two minutes for tripping and Foegele & Joseph get coincidental minors. A pivotal power play for Edmonton.

18:31: Adam Henrique has a high-sticking penalty in his Oilers debut. Edmonton has killed of 17 of their last 20 penalties.

20:00: The third period is underway!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Edmonton gets one back to make it 3-1 through 40 minutes, with Pickard making more important stops to keep his team within reach.

4:56: TWO SEISMIC PICKARD STOPS! Edmonton's sloppy play in the D zone is picked off as the puck is moved to a wide-open Jack Roslovic, who has two in-tight chances stopped by the Oilers netminder to keep them in it.

12:38: Tarasov slams the door shut on Nugent-Hopkins, who let loose a great wrist shot from the right circle off the rush.

18:49: SLAMMED HOME BY HYMAN! The puck bounces off McDavid and takes a fortunate deflection right to the Oilers leading goalscorer, who bangs home his 43rd of the season to make it a two-goal game early in the middle frame. The Oilers captain reaches 100 points and extends his point streak to 13 games with an assist as Head Coach Kris Knoblauch decides to load up the top line with McDavid, Draisaitl and Hyman to begin the period. 3-1.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The Oilers have work to do through 20 minutes, trailing the Blue Jackets 3-0.

2:27: Draisaitl takes a dangerous wrist shot that Tarasov gets a piece of before deflecting off the post.

4:39: Three-goal Columbus lead. Warren Foegele gives the puck away with a careless pass at the blueline, leading to Dmitri Voronkov extending his NHL rookie scoring lead with a shot from the slot that beats Pickard. Not the start the Oilers wanted. 3-0.

5:05: GLOVES DROPPED! Sam Carrick tries to get his new team going with a fight against Mathieu Olivier right of the faceoff. Both get good punches in before Joseph takes down the centre with some short jabs.

5:06: Blue Jackets goal. Alex Nylander has been hot for the Blue Jackets and stays hot with his fifth goal in seven games with Columbus since arriving from Pittsburgh. 2-0.

5:22: Johnny Gaudreau has a backhander stopped by Pickard before Jenner whacks the glove of the Oilers netminder to force the puck loose. It could've been a penalty, but we play on.

9:22: A quiet and uncharacteristic power play sees the Oilers generate no shots on their first man advantage.

11:22: After setting up Columbus' opener, Sean Kuraly sends it over the glass to send the Oilers to the power play.

15:40: Jackets jump out to a 1-0 lead. Edmonton had the majority of the early play, but after a few Tarasov saves, it's a quick shot by Mathieu Olivier in the right circle off the set-up from Sean Kuraly that beats Calvin Pickard at the other to give Columbus the early advantage.

16:03: Warren Foegele is fought off by Daniil Tarasov in close before Zach Hyman gets a few good whacks off a centring pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The Oilers have generated nine shot attempts in the first four minutes.
