Rick Pracey

Director, Amateur Scouting

Pracey joined the Oilers on August 22, 2023 as Director of Amateur Scouting, bringing two decades of scouting experience to Edmonton after most recently serving as an amateur scout with the Philadelphia Flyers since 2014.

Prior to his time with the Flyers, the Hamilton, Ont. native spent 13 years with the Colorado Avalanche, including six seasons (2008-14) as Director of Amateur Scouting. During his time with Colorado, Pracey oversaw Avalanche NHL Draft classes highlighted by the selections of Nathan MacKinnon, Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan O'Reilly and Tyson Barrie.

As a player, Pracey spent five seasons as a goaltender at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Windsor before a stint in the UHL in 1997-98. Following his playing career, he spent one season as a goaltender coach with the OHL's Windsor Spitfires in 2000 and moved into an amateur scouting role with Colorado in 2001.
