The pick the Penguins acquired from the Sabres can become a third-round pick under certain conditions.
This trade gives the Penguins a total of eight picks in the 2019 draft, including multiple selections in the fourth and seventh rounds. In addition to this fourth-round pick, the Pens also own the Minnesota Wild's fourth-round selection, which was acquired on Dec. 19, 2017 in a deal with the Arizona Coyotes. Pittsburgh traded a fourth-round pick to the Dallas Stars that same day in exchange for Jamie Oleksiak. Dallas will receive the better of the picks between the Penguins' own fourth-round pick or the Minnesota fourth-rounder. Pittsburgh will keep the lesser choice.
