Rangers Agree to Terms with Connor Mackey and Nikolas Brouillard

New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defensemen Connor Mackey and Nikolas Brouillard on one-year contracts.

Mackey, 26, compiled three goals and four assists for seven points in 30 games between the Calgary Flames and Arizona Coyotes in 2022-23. He also recorded 61 hits and 29 blocked shots in those 30 contests.

Mackey has played in 39 career NHL games over three seasons split with the Flames and Coyotes, notching 11 points (4G-7A). The Tower Lake, Illinois native has played two seasons at the AHL level with the Stockton Heat, compiling 52 points (8G-44A) in 80 games. In 2021-22 with Stockton, he led team defensemen with 36 points (5G-31A) in 53 games. He was named an AHL All-Star in 2021.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-2, 197 pound blueliner played three seasons at Minnesota State University, earning All-WCHA First Team honors in his final year.

Internationally, Mackey has represented the United States at the 2023 and 2021 World Championship.

Brouillard, 28, notched six goals and 33 assists for 39 points in 72 games for the San Diego Gulls of the AHL in 2022-23. Among team defensemen, he ranked tied for first in assists and second in goals and points.

In four seasons in the AHL, split between San Diego and the Toronto Marlies, the St-Hyacinthe, Quebec native has amassed 22 goals and 70 assists for 92 points in 168 games. He also played one season in the ECHL with Orlando Solar Bears, tallying 21 points (7G-14A) in 39 games.

Prior to turning pro full-time, Brouillard totaled 49 points (22G-27A) in 57 career games with McGill University (U SPORTS) and was named an OUA (Ontario University Athletics) All-Star in his last two seasons.
