20211023 Tokarski Mediawall At the Final Horn

Dustin Tokarski stopped 37 shots, including 14 in the third period in the Buffalo Sabres' 2-1 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday at Prudential Center.
Pavel Zacha scored with 1:51 left in overtime to give the Devils the extra two points. Nico Hischier scored early in the third period to tie things up and then New Jersey controlled play for much of the final 20.
Dylan Cozens snapped a 24-game goalless streak dating back to last season for Buffalo's lone goal.
Nico Daws made his NHL debut in net, turning aside 24 Sabres shots.

How it happened

The Sabres opened the scoring 3:19 into the contest when Cozens wristed in a shot from the right faceoff circle on the power play with Girgensons in front
The Devils thought they tied things up 4:07 on a delayed penalty, but the officials ruled that the puck did not cross the goal line. New Jersey challenged, but the call was upheld and the teams skated four-aside.
With about 12:40 left, the Devils had a pair of chances to tie the game, but couldn't convert. Marian Studenic had an opportunity that was stopped and then, with Tokarski out of position, Yegor Sharangovich rang one off the post.
Hischier was credited with the game-tying goal 5:52 into the third period when the puck bounced off the end boards, back out in front to Hischier, who knocked it in past Tokarski.
Zacha potted a shot from the left faceoff circle, beating Tokarski glove side in overtime.
