20210318 Final Horn Okposo Bruins Mediawall

Don Granato's first game as interim head coach of the Buffalo Sabres ended like so many Sabres games this season when he served as an assistant coach: with a regulation loss.
Buffalo fell to the Boston Bruins 4-1 on Thursday at KeyBank Center. Buffalo is now 6-19-4 on the season and 0-11-2 over the last 13 games.
Kyle Okposo scored his first goal of the season for Buffalo - a shorthanded marker - and Carter Hutton made 33 saves.
Granato was named interim head coach after head coach Ralph Krueger and assistant coach Steve Smith were relieved of their duties Wednesday morning.
Greg McKegg, Jake DeBrusk, Craig Smith and David Pastrnak recorded Boston's goals. Jaroslav Halak stopped 23 shots. David Krejci had three assists.

What happened

The Bruins took an early lead with McKegg's goal 2:56 into the game, tipping in a point shot by Matt Grzelcyk.
Okposo got Buffalo on the board when his shot from the right wing deflected off a Bruins defenseman's stick and up over Halak from 50 feet out.
DeBrusk broke the tie with a power-play goal 9:15 into the second and Boston never looked back. Smith scored with 1:24 left and then 4:44 into the third period, Pastrnak made it 4-1 with a goal on the power play.
Buffalo went 0-for-1 with the man advantage and 3-for-5 while shorthanded.
