Victor Olofsson snapped a 30-game goal drought with his game-winner Tuesday night in the Buffalo Sabres' 6-3 win over the New York Islanders.
He scored again, potting one of Buffalo's two empty-net goals in the final 1:05, to seal the victory. Olofsson hadn't scored since October 31, and missed eight games earlier in the season due to injury.
Buffalo never trailed in Tuesday's game at KeyBank Center, but the Islanders wouldn't go away, tying the game at every turn until Olofsson's go-ahead marker with 2:55 remaining in regulation.
Kyle Okposo, Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch and Henri Jokiharju also scored for Buffalo. Dylan Cozens had three assists for a career-high three points and Peyton Krebs had two helpers.
Dustin Tokarski made 30 saves to earn the victory
Kyle Palmieri scored twice for the Islanders and Anders Lee also added one. Ilya Sorokin stopped 35 shots of 39 shots.
Buffalo went 1-for-2 on the power play and were 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
