How it happened

CBJ@BUF: Thompson nets Olofsson's slick feed in front

The Sabres struck first at the 3:38 mark of the opening period.
After a failed clearing attempt by Korpisalo, the puck made its way back on net and Victor Olofsson slipped it to Thompson, who tapped it in for his team-leading seventh of the year.
The Blue Jackets tied it up 8:23 into the first period when Roslovic's wrist shot in tight deflected off Tokarski's glove and over the goal line.
Roslovic scored again with 5:56 left in the period to put Columbus up 2-1.

CBJ@BUF: Girgensons scores with 0.4 left in the 1st

With 0.4 seconds left on the clock, the Sabres scored a power-play goal to even things up. Girgensons deflected in a shot by Colin Miller that made its way in just before time expired.
Columbus opened the second period with a pair of goals in 55 seconds.
Bjorkstrand scored 24 seconds in and then Domi tallied right after.
Dell took over for Tokarski at that point.
The Blue Jackets struck again to make it 5-2 at the 3:41 mark when Gavrikov's point shot made it through.

CBJ@BUF: Cozens scores in 2nd period

Cozens got one back 4:44 into the second when he skated over the line and wristed a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that beat Korpisalo glove side.
The Sabres made it a one-goal game when Thompson blasted a 100-mile-per-hour one-time slap shot in on the power play for his second of the night at the 9:55 mark.
With 7:51 remaining in the third period, Rasmus Asplund drew a tripping penalty while on the power play to give the Sabres a two-man advantage for 32 seconds. Buffalo did not capitalize on the 5-on-3 and then did not register a shot during the remainder of the power play.
Columbus added two empty-net goals in the final minute - one by Gavrikov and one by Kuraly - to give the Blue Jackets a 7-4 victory.
