The Buffalo Sabres held the lead going into the third period, but couldn't hang on in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday at KeyBank Center.

Dustin Tokarski made 30 saves on 34 shots. Rasmus Dahlin, Kyle Okposo and Alex Tuch scored for Buffalo.
Jack Roslovic, Brendan Gaunce and Oliver Bjorkstrand also scored for Columbus. Buffalo extended their lead to 3-1 when Tuch scored early in the third, but the Blue Jackets chipped away and eventually scored three unanswered goals to complete the comeback.
Elvis Merzlikins turned aside 24 shots.
Buffalo is now 10-3-6 when leading after two periods.
The Sabres power play finished 0-for-1 and the penalty kill went 1-for-2.

How it happened

The Blue Jackets opened the scoring 9:05 into the contest when a centering attempt by Roslovic deflected in past Tokarski off the skate of Mark Pysyk.
Dahlin tied things up at the 3:27 mark of the second period when his wrist shot from the point deflected off the glove of Merzlikins and over the goal line.

With 1:37 to go in the second, Okposo put Buffalo in the lead when he one-timed a pass in front from Mark Jankowski.

CBJ@BUF: Tuch buries feed from Skinner down low

The Sabres went up 3-1 when Tuch scored 12 seconds into the third period. Tuch now has six goals and 14 points in 14 games this season.
Columbus cut the lead back to one when Gaunce beat Tokarski short side for his first of the season at the 4:48 mark of the third.
Bjorkstand tied things up with 5:35 remaining with a power-play goal.
Voracek scored on the first shot of the extra period to give Columbus the extra point.

Worthy of a mention

Tuch has now recorded 14 points (6+8) in 14 games since joining the Sabres, including 10 points (5G, 5A) in his last nine contests.
In franchise history, only Doug Gilmour (22 points, 3G, 19A), Pat LaFontaine (18 points, 8G, 10A) and Jeff Skinner (16 points, 9G, 7A) have more points through their first 14 games for the Sabres after being acquired via trade.
Tage Thompson earned an assist on Dahlin's goal and now has 15 points (4+11) in his last 15 games played. Thompson has also produced at least a point in each of his last nine games at KeyBank Center (4+5).

The Buffalo Sabres will next face the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday at Bell Centre.
