There was certainly no love lost between the Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
The Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres played a physical game from start to finish, but it's the goals that matter and Travis Konecny, Jakub Voracek and Kevin Hayes scored to give the Flyers a 3-0 victory at Wells Fargo Center.
Carter Hutton kept Buffalo in the game when he was between the pipes, making 19 saves in two periods of action. He was replaced in net by Jonas Johansson to start the third period and was not present on the bench for the remainder of the game.
In what could have been the reason for Hutton leaving early, Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov collided with him in the opening minutes of the second period, causing the goaltender to fall back into the goal post and his mask to go flying off.
Johansson made eight saves on nine shots in relief. With Buffalo down a pair of goals, he was pulled in favor of the extra attacker with 2:40 remaining.
Stay tuned to Sabres coach Ralph Krueger's comments and Sabres.com's Postgame Report later tonight for updates.
Brian Elliott, who replaced Flyers goaltender Carter Hart midway through Buffalo's 6-1 win on Monday, made 40 saves against the Sabres on Tuesday to earn a shutout in his first start of the season.
