Buffalo Sabres prospect Erik Portillo (3rd round, 2019) has been named a First Team All-Star by the USHL.

Portillo, 19, led USHL goaltenders with a 2.11 goals-against average to go along with a .915 save percentage and a 19-5-1 record with the Dubuque Fighting Saints. It was the first North American season for the native of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Portillo previously led the SuperElit league - Sweden's premier junior league - in both goals-against average (1.99) and save percentage (.931) in 2018-19.

The goaltender is scheduled to begin his NCAA career at the University of Michigan next season.

"They have everything, like the resources to get to the NHL, I think," Portillo said at Sabres development camp last summer. "They have everything and I feel like I can really focus on the hockey there."
