Eichel selected as nominee for King Clancy Trophy

Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel has been selected as the team's nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL player "who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."
Each of the 31 NHL clubs selects one nominee. The winner will be chosen by a committee of NHL executives led by commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly, with three finalists announced during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The winning player will be announced during the Stanley Cup semifinals and will receive a $25,000 donation to a charity of their choice. The two runners-up will each receive $5,000 donations to their selected charities.
Eichel continued his support of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and Best Buddies WNY, two organizations he has aligned closely with since coming to Buffalo in 2015. He sent 450 bouquets of flowers to nurses at Roswell Park earlier this month in recognition of International Nurses Day.
Eichel was also active at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, donating 5,000 personal protective equipment masks to local hospitals last April.
