20211208 Mittelstadt Practice Report

Casey Mittelstadt was absent from Buffalo Sabres practice Wednesday after sustaining an injury in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Head coach Don Granato addressed the injury situation Wednesday morning during his weekly radio appearance on WGR 550.
"He'll get some imaging today and see the doctors" he said, "There is a concern that it could be a re-injury, which is not good."
After practice, Granato said they were seeking more medical information on the injury, but there's the potential that Mittelstadt could be out long term.

Mittelstadt was previously injured during the season opener in October, forcing him to miss 21 games. After returning to the starting lineup last week against Florida, he finds himself having to work his way back from injury yet again.
"We're still gathering information, having him see doctors and then going through their procedures to figure out where we're at," Granato said.

PRACTICE REPORT

Zemgus Girgensons was given a maintenance day and did not skate.
Goaltender Malcolm Subban, meanwhile, has yet to return from the injury that forced him out of his Sabres debut on Thursday.
"He did his rehab skate (this morning before practice), and he'll do that again tomorrow," Granato said. "We're not going to put him in practice yet, we'll push him in the rehab skate where we can monitor it better."
The team has been without goaltender Craig Anderson since November 2 and he remains out month-to-month with an upper-body injury, and Dustin Tokarski is in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol.
Rookie netminder Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who started in goal Tuesday night, remains with the team.

AFTER PRACTICE: Granato

AFTER PRACTICE: Skinner

Forward Jeff Skinner spoke after practice Wednesday about the morale of the team following a tough stretch of games in which the team has lost five in a row.
"You turn the page, focus on how we can get better. Work on things that we want to improve and take it into the next game" he said.
The Sabres' next game will be Friday at home against the New York Rangers at 7 p.m. Tickets for the game are on sale now.
Pregame coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on MSG followed by Rick Jeanneret and Rob Ray's call of the game on MSG and WGR 550.
