Practice Report | Comrie progressing in recovery from lower-body injury

Eric Comrie skated again on Tuesday and is progressing in his recovery from a lower-body injury, the goaltender told reporters following practice at LECOM Harborcenter.
Comrie joined the Sabres for their three-game road trip out west and began practicing with the team last Thursday. He sustained his injury in Ottawa on November 16.
The Sabres have not set a timetable on his return to game action. Comrie said he feels close to 100 percent from a health perspective but is working towards returning to game speed.

"For myself, it's just about getting better every single day," he said. "… It's hard because for a goalie it's about making sure your timing's right. You don't want to come back too soon and have your timing off and all that stuff, especially when the team's got momentum."
Jacob Bryson (lower body) also continued to practice but is still considered day to day. Owen Power (lower body) did not practice.
Here are more notes from Tuesday's skate at LECOM Harborcenter.
1. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen bookended the Sabres' three-game road trip with dominant victories in Colorado and Vegas. Luukkonen set a career high with 39 saves against the Avalanche, then broke that mark with 41 stops against the Golden Knights.
Sabres coach Don Granato explained Tuesday how he's seen Luukkonen's confidence increase during the month since his recall.
"You're recalled from Rochester and now you're facing the greatest shooters in the world, which you're not in the American Hockey League," Granato said. "You're (facing) lots of young talent in a very, very good league, but this is the greatest league in the world.
"… It's different. The timing's different. Everything's different. There's an acclimation period, especially for younger players that don't have a lot of NHL experience."

2. Luukkonen allowed five or more goals in three of his first four starts. He's since won four out of five with a .917 save percentage.
"I felt he went through that window of early games and had some frustration and goals he probably wanted back," Granato said. "The key is that you don't want those to affect his confidence, don't want doubt to creep in, all the while everyone around him is second guessing. I mean, let's face it, you're a goalie in the NHL and you give up a goal, everybody second guesses you.
"… It took him a little bit I felt to get his timing and situations back. He did that, did a nice job at that, and you can see him playing with more confidence. That's big."
3. Rasmus Dahlin, Mattias Samuelsson, Kyle Okposo, and Zemgus Girgensons all took maintenance days on Tuesday. Samuelsson averaged 29:30 on the road trip; Dahlin averaged 29:15.
The Sabres return to practice at LECOM Harborcenter on Thursday.
