Isak Rosen has been named to Sweden's roster for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The tournament runs from Sunday, Dec. 26 to Wednesday, Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta. Sabres prospect Owen Power was previously selected to Canada's preliminary roster.
The Sabres selected Rosen with their second pick of the first round (14th overall) in this year's NHL Draft. The forward has four points (2+2) in 25 games with Leksands IF of the Swedish Hockey League.
Rosen tallied nine points (2+7) in seven contests at the U-18 World Championship in May, earning recognition as a top-three player on Sweden's bronze-winning team.

Head-to-head in the Big Ten

Four Sabres prospects shared the ice when the University of Michigan hosted the University of Minnesota this past weekend for a Big Ten clash at Yost Ice Arena. Power and goaltender Erik Portillo suited up for Michigan; defenseman Ryan Johnson and forward Aaron Huglen skated for Minnesota.
Power saw his eight-game point streak snapped in the first game, a 5-1 victory for the Gophers. Johnson blocked three shots and had a plus-2 rating.
Michigan responded with a 6-2 win the following night in which Portillo stopped 19 of 21 shots and Power tallied an assist. Johnson also had an assist for Minnesota.
Power, the first-overall pick in this year's draft, is tied for fifth in Division I - first among defensemen - with 23 points (3+20) in 18 games. Portillo is tied with fellow Sabres prospect Devon Levi for second in the country with 13 wins.
Johnson, a first-round pick in 2019, has 11 points (2+9) in 18 games. Huglen (fourth round, 2019) has two goals and an assist.
Michigan plays a two-game set at Ohio State on Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (8 p.m.). Both games can be seen on the Big Ten Network. Minnesota is on winter break until Jan. 3.

Levi sets school record

Levi made 37 saves for his sixth shutout of the season in Northeastern's 2-0 victory over Providence on Friday. His shoutout is tied for the NCAA lead and is a Northeastern program record.
Levi followed that performance with a 34-save effort in a 4-1 win on Friday. He was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week for the third straight week and fourth time this season.

Levi leads the NCAA in save percentage (.955) and is tied for second in wins (13). Northeastern is off until Jan. 7.

Nadeau's big weekend

Olivier Nadeau (fourth round, 2021) tallied seven points (1+6) in three games over the weekend with QMJHL Shawinigan.
Nadeau opened the weekend with a three-assist, plus-4 performance in Shawinigan's 6-2 win over Drummondville. He scored a power-play goal and an assist in a win over Halifax on Saturday and added one more helper in an overtime loss to Sherbrooke on Sunday.

The forward ranks sixth in the QMJHL with 38 points (15+23) in 25 games this season.
