The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forwards C.J. Smith and Steven Fogarty from the taxi squad, the team announced Thursday. Forwards Jean Sebastien-Dea and Brett Murray have been reassigned from the Rochester Americans to the taxi squad.
Buffalo visits the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second of back-to-back games Thursday at 7 p.m. Coverage on MSG begins at 6:30.
The additions of Smith and Fogarty come in the wake of two losses to the Sabres' forward group on Wednesday. The team announced prior to warmups that Tage Thompson would miss that game due to an illness, then Rasmus Asplund sustained an injury on his third shift of the night.

Smith, 26, has six points (2+4) in five games with Rochester this season. He has appeared in 13 games with Buffalo since joining the organization as an undrafted free agent in 2017, tallying two goals. His most recent NHL experience came during the 2018-19 season.
Fogarty, 27, has appeared in one contest with the Sabres this season after signing a one-year deal in October. He has eight points (5+3) in 10 games with the Amerks.
