Olofsson had spent the first two days of camp skating on the right wing of a line with Taylor Hall and Casey Mittelstadt, with Mittelstadt a likely placeholder for Sabres captain Jack Eichel. Eichel has missed the first two practices with an upper-body injury but is expected to return in the coming days.
Krueger said he expects both Eichel and goaltender Linus Ullmark - who is quarantining after an immigration delay - to miss at least one more day of practice but remained optimistic about their ability to re-enter the mix when the time comes.
"You just don't want to force anything," Krueger said. "You can know that we're keeping them physically fit and that they've put in the work. They've put in the work to have a foundation where if they step in here in a couple of days, we're going to be fine. Again, I'm not at all worried about it and know that they will be ready on the 14th."
The Sabres will hold split-group practice sessions again on Sunday and then hold their first intrasquad scrimmage Monday at 1 p.m.
