Sabres to select 1st overall at 2021 NHL Draft

The Buffalo Sabres are on the clock.
The Sabres won the lottery on Wednesday for the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NHL Draft, which will be held virtually on July 23 and 24. They entered the evening with a 16.6-percent chance of obtaining the pick, the highest odds among the 16 participating teams.
Buffalo has held the first overall pick three times in franchise history: 1970 (Gilbert Perreault), 1987 (Pierre Turgeon), and 2018 (Rasmus Dahlin).

University of Michigan defenseman Owen Power, a puck mover who blends mobility with a 6-foot-6, 213-pound frame, is considered the top North American prospect by NHL Central Scouting Services.
NHL CSS rounds out its top five North American skaters with center Mason McTavish, center Kent Johnson, defenseman Luke Hughes, and right wing Dylan Guenther. Its list of the top five European prospects is comprised of left wing William Eklund, defenseman Simon Edvinsson, center Aatu Raty, right wing Nikita Chibrikov, and defenseman Daniil Chayka.
The expansion Seattle Kraken won the lottery for the second pick. The complete order of the top 15 picks is as follows:
