Buffalo Sabres forward Scott Wilson is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks after undergoing successful surgery to repair an ankle fracture. Wilson sustained the injury during practice on Sunday.
The Sabres acquired Wilson in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings last December. He tallied 14 points (6+8) in 49 games for Buffalo and was rewarded with a two-year deal as an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Wilson joins a list of injured Sabres that includes Johan Larsson (lower body), Sean Malone (knee), Zach Bogosian (lower body) and Matt Hunwick (neck). Larsson and Bogosian are day-to-day.
