Through the opening two days of the 2021 IIHF World Championship, a trio of Blackhawks players sit atop their respective group standings with perfect 2-0-0 records.
Lukas Reichel and Germany are leading Group B, while Nikita Zadorov and Maxim Shalunov are tops in Group A with Team Russia. In all, five Blackhawks players were in action on day two in Riga, Latvia.

REICHEL SCORES, ASSISTS IN WIN OVER NORWAY

The German forward posted his second multi-point outing in as many games to open the tournament, converting a breakaway five-hole and adding a primary assist in a 5-1 win over Norway on Saturday.

With five points (2G, 3A) in his opening two games, Reichel and fellow countryman Marcel Noebels are tied for the tournament scoring lead after day two. Both are also in a four-way tie with a +5 rating, a grouping that also includes Zadorov after Russia's Saturday win.
Germany looks to stay hot on Monday as they face Canada, where Reichel will square off against Brandon Hagel, Nicolas Beaudin and Brandon Pirri.

KURASHEV, SWITZERLAND TOP KUBALIK, CZECHS IN DEBUT

In the first game of the tournament for Switzerland on Saturday, Philipp Kurashev had an assist and three shots in 15:23 of action as his side topped teammate Dominik Kubalik's Czech Republic side, 5-2. Kubalik was held off the board and had a team-high four shots in 19:26 in of ice time following his two-point outing in the opening Czech win on Friday.

RUSSIA REMAINS PERFECT IN WIN OVER GREAT BRITAIN

Zadorov finished second among Russian defenseman with 20:20 of ice time and posted his first point of the tournament and Shalunov tied a team-mark with five shots in a 7-1 win over Great Britain on Saturday.
The Blackhawks blueliner is tied with Reichel and two others for a tournament-best +5 rating through the opening two games. Russia will look to make it a 3-0-0 start on Monday as they face Slovakia.

FOUR IN ACTION ON SUNDAY

The Blackhawk trio of Hagel, Beaudin and Pirri return to action with Team Canada against the U.S. on Sunday, while Kurashev and Switzerland remain in action against Denmark.
