Red Wings for Reading Program
 

Red Wings for Reading, presented by the Detroit Red Wings Foundation, is a no-cost literacy program for K-5th-grade classrooms in Michigan. The program is designed for individual classrooms and runs throughout the Red Wings season. By registering for Red Wings for Reading, teachers will have access to:

  • Monthly newsletters and reading activities
  • Reading incentives for students
  • Classroom Challenge entry in March
  • Exclusive Red Wings ticket offers
  • Guest celebrity readers, and more!

Registration is limited to the first 200 K-2 and 200 3-5 classrooms. There will only be 200 spots held per group, for a total of 400 classrooms.

How It Works

  • Register for Red Wings for Reading
  • Receive monthly newsletters, which will be sent on the first Monday of each month and include monthly reading challenges, classroom shout-outs, special ticket offers and more.
  • Compete in the Red Wings for Reading Classroom Challenge beginning Monday, February 17 through Friday, March 14. Teachers will track the number of minutes students read weekly while students compete for classroom prizes.
  • Earn the prizes and incentives below!

Prizes and Incentives

  • The top-performing classroom for K-2 and 3-5 grades will receive a $2,500 library upgrade for their school.
  • The top five classrooms for K-2 and 3-5 grades will receive a Little Caesars Pizza party.
  • Each participating student will receive a Red Wings for Reading Classroom Challenge bracelet and earn a charm each week of the challenge.

  • September 25, 2024: Registration opens
  • October 2024: First Red Wings for Reading newsletter
  • October 2, 2024: Registration closes
  • February 17, 2025: Classroom Challenge begins
  • March 14, 2025: Classroom Challenge ends
  • March 17-21, 2025: Last week to submit minutes for the Classroom Challenge
  • April 4, 2025: Classroom Challenge winners announced
