It won't be long before everyone gets acquainted with the newest member of the New Jersey Devils, Dougie Hamilton. He will, without a doubt, be a difference-maker on the Devils blueline, and the team as a whole for the foreseeable future.
Let us help you get to know Dougie a little better in this edition of Three Things:

2. All In The Family

Athletic's run in Dougie's family, with mom Lynn (Polson) and dad Doug Hamilton both having competed at the Olympics with Team Canada.
Lynn played for Canada's basketball team in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, and Doug was a member of the Canadian rowing crew.
It was at the '84 Olympics where Lynn and Doug both met (Doug won a bronze medal).
That makes all four members of the Hamilton family as having competed under the maple leaf, with both Dougie and brother Freddie having competed with Team Canada in World Junior Championships.

3. His Own Hat Tricks

There are hockey hat tricks, and then there are Dougie Hamilton hat tricks.

Do a quick search on Twitter, and you'll see that Dougie has a sense of humor when it comes to his head gear. Whether it's wearing his former team's mascot's picture on his hat, or a Boston bakery of his choice when returning to Boston, Dougie puts a lot of thought into his head gear and we are here for it.
