Thompson, 21, spent the last three seasons, 2018-21, with Providence College (Hockey East). In his junior year, Tyce served as the Friars' captain and scored 11 goals and 14 assists to lead the team in goals/assists/points in 25 games. As a sophomore, he finished second in Hockey East and third in the NCAA in scoring, tallying 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points in 34 games. Additionally, Thompson finished the year tied for second in goals (19) and power-play points (8-13-21) amongst his Hockey East rivals. His 15 multi-point games were tied for second nationally while his 27 games with at least a point was tied for first. Through his three seasons at Providence, the right-shot forward tallied 38 goals and 56 assists for 94 points with 65 penalty minutes and a plus-18 rating in 101 contests. At Providence, he was teammates with fellow Devils' prospect, Patrick Moynihan (2019 Draft, sixth round, 158th overall). Thompson's father, Brent, was drafted by Los Angeles in 1989 and spent six seasons in the NHL. Tyce's brother, Tage, was drafted 26th overall in the 2016 Draft by St. Louis and is currently a forward for the Buffalo Sabres.
Born July 12, 1999 in Oyster Bay, NY, the 6-1, 180lb., native of Milford, Connecticut, was named to the Hockey East Second All-Star Team this past season. He was also selected to the NCAA (All-USCHO) Second Team and as a Hockey East Second Team All-Star in 2019-20. Thompson spent two seasons in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, posting 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 63 games played. He added one goal in seven playoff games.
