A literacy incentive initiative established by the team in 2000 using the excitement of Blue Jackets hockey to encourage students in grades K-8 to spend more time reading. The program is easy for teachers or parents to implement, helps students to become all-star readers by tracking minutes read and provides great Blue Jackets incentives to reach reading goals.

The Future Goals - Hockey Scholar™ online course is a unique tool that leverages the exciting game of hockey to teach science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts to students in grades 4-8. This course, aligned to state science and math standards, also introduces students to STEM careers in hockey.

Blue Jackets Power Play Challenge presented by OhioHealth, a FREE, hockey-themed wellness curriculum to assist physical education teachers in the fight against childhood obesity. The goal is to make a healthy lifestyle both enjoyable and easy for kids to maintain.

Avondale Adopt-A-School Program

The Blue Jackets have created a lasting relationship with Avondale Elementary, a school in one of the city's most vulnerable neighborhoods, to make a powerful difference in the lives of their students. With visits, games, fundraisers and even a pen pal program, we let the students know they are important.

Activities

The Blue Jackets have created a one-stop shop where CBJ fans of all ages can practice skills away from the ice, learn remotely with educational worksheets, and print and complete fun hockey themed activities. These FREE resources can be utilized to help keep kids engaged both physically and mentally.
