Player Philanthropy

Lightning players are honored to give back to the community that cheers them on. Each season, players regularly visit schools and hospitals and participate in other public appearances that support children and families throughout the Tampa Bay community. Players also annually host a holiday party for children battling pediatric cancer, and the Bolts Better Halves volunteer and play an active role with collection drives on Ford Thunder Alley benefitting Metropolitan Ministries, the Salvation Army, Feeding Tampa Bay, and the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots.

Player Programming

Additionally, many of our players have created customized philanthropic programs that reflect their personal passions, and regularly donate tickets to host families and groups from designated non-profits at games throughout the season.

Lightning Community Heroes

Since 2011, the Lightning have honored a Community Hero at every game and presented that hero with a check for $50,000 to donate to a non-profit charity of their choice.
