*In December of 1955, NHL teams switched from wearing color jerseys on the road to wearing them at home for the remainder of the 1955-56 season.

Prior to the 1958-59 season, the Rangers added jersey numbers to the sleeves of their jerseys for the first time in franchise history.

Beginning with the 1990-91 season, the names on the back of jerseys were arched instead of straight across.

On October 7, 2001, the Rangers played their first regular season home game following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Rangers and their opponent, the Buffalo Sabres, wore commemorative jerseys with “New York” on the front.

The Rangers, along with several NHL teams, wore vintage jerseys for select games during the 2003-04 season. The Rangers, whose vintage jerseys were based off of the jerseys they wore for the 1976-77 and 1977-78 seasons, wore these jerseys for five games in 2003-04 (blue jersey for three games and white jersey for two games).

The Rangers wore a special patch on all of their jerseys in 2010-11 to recognize their 85th Anniversary. The Rangers wore a special patch on all of their jerseys in 2016-17 to recognize their 90th Season.

The Rangers wore a special patch on their jersey when the organization retired Brian Leetch’s jersey No. 2 on January 24, 2008, Adam Graves’ jersey No. 9 on February 3, 2009, and Harry Howell’s jersey No. 3 and Andy Bathgate’s jersey No. 9 on February 22, 2009.

The Rangers wore a special patch when they opened the 2008-09 regular season in Prague, Czech Republic and when they opened the 2011-12 regular season in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Rangers wore a special patch on their jersey when the organization retired Jean Ratelle’s jersey No. 19 on February 25, 2018 and Vic Hadfield’s jersey No. 11 on December 2, 2018.
