To kick off a new school year and season of Reading Is Cool, S.J. Sharkie and Sharks Fan Development staff will visit randomly-selected Reading Is Cool classes in September and October for S.J. Sharkie Read-Ins!
This event typically lasts about 45 minutes and occurs in the school library or gymnasium. During this time, the staff will read a grade-appropriate book with special help from the lovable San Jose Sharks mascot. Students have the chance to interact with S.J. Sharkie and some may even be called up to act out or read parts of the book. Everyone will love the antics that ensue once S.J. Sharkie enters the room! At the conclusion of the Read-In, students will have the opportunity to take a group picture with S.J. Sharkie and will be presented with a bag of books to be used in the school library.
No requests for Read-Ins can be taken. Schools who register 5 or more classrooms for Reading Is Cool will be given priority for these visits. To allow more participants the chance to interact with S.J. Sharkie and enjoy the story he will share, we will make every effort to visit multiple classes at one time, but all classrooms must be registered for Reading Is Cool.
