12-31-Postgame

Marc-Andre Fleury took sole possession of sixth on the all-time wins list (455) as the Vegas Golden Knights (22-15-6) knocked off the Anaheim Ducks (16-19-5), 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at T-Mobile Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
After Korbinian Holzer opened the scoring for Anaheim, Mark Stone scored for the second game in a row to knot the score at 1-1. Alex Tuch was the beneficiary of an Anaheim own goal late in the frame as Vegas took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Reilly Smith buried his 15th goal of the season during the second period as the Golden Knights marched into the final period of 2019 with a 3-1 edge. Jonathan Marchessault scored a penalty-shot goal to extend the Vegas lead to 4-1. A late goal from the Ducks made it a 4-2 hockey game before Marchessault hit the empty net to seal the 5-2 win for the Golden Knights.

TURNING POINT
At 10:56 of the third, Marchessault stormed into the Anaheim zone with Josh Manson on his back. Manson slashed Marchessault's stick triggering the penalty shot call. The righty swung in from the left side, got John Gibson to bite on a shot fake, and elevated the puck over the sprawled-out goaltender for his second penalty shot as a Golden Knight and 14th tally of the season.
STAT OF THE KNIGHT
Fleury's 455th win in the NHL pushed him ahead of Curtis Joseph for sixth all-time. He's three wins behind current New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist (458) and 29 wins behind Ed Belfour.
