"Josh is a versatile, right shot forward that provides optionality for our coaching staff," general manager John Chayka told the Coyotes website. "He creates depth for our organization and we're excited to see what he can do with the opportunity."
The Rangers signed Jooris to a one-year contract July 15 after he spent the past two seasons with the Calgary Flames. Jooris has 17 goals and 39 points in 131 NHL games.
The move comes one day after Arizona forward Max Domi was placed on injured reserve, and announced he is considered week to week because of an upper-body injury.
Center Tyler Gaudet was assigned to Tucson of the American Hockey League.
